MLK Jr. Day, Notorious Movie & the Inauguration of Barack Obama
Ah Biggie would have liked this week. The East Coast vs. West Coast cold war gets a week off. We've got MLK Jr. day tomorrow. And then on Tuesday is the inauguration of the first African American President of the United States, Barack Obama. Of course, I took the day off tomorrow and on Tuesday. I plan on watching the Notorious movie on Monday and then the Inauguration on Tuesday. It's going to be two of the best days ever for this man. I promise you that.

Blind Allegiance
It's time for we as Black Americans to drop all of this blind allegiance to the Democratic Party, or any party at all for that matter. I personally find it disgusting that such a large portion of us simply vote Democratic by default. This should raise red flags. Some might say it shouldn't. The Republican Party is racist, you say. Don't get me started on how racist I think the Democratic Party is. In my eyesight, they both do some racist assed sh*t, but that will be for another blog altogether. Those interested, I will be posting a link soon.
All of this voting Democrat 'just because' makes Democrats lazy. They know all they have to do is pander to us the right way and they've got the 'black vote'(ie portion of Democrat vote that will come from the Black Community). I mean, they can get up in front of us and say anything at all. And then they get in office, come out of office and the part of our community that's in poverty(this nation pretends that middle class Black America doesn't even exist) is in no better shape than when they came in. SMH. Where does it all end? Come on people. A failure is a failure.
Scrap this blind allegiance.

Treat Africa Americans as Americans
What do Black Americans want?
Yes, that's the burning question on many people's minds. Well the answer is simple. We want to be treated as Americans instead of some problem that has to be dealt with and catered to all the time. You see, this is something that has never come full circle. Throughout history, the African American Community has always been viewed as a problem. This is very apparent by the way we've been catered to over the years by the various voting parties. Promise us whatever we want so we'll give you our vote. It's the primary reason why I refuse to blindly show support for either the liberals or the democrats. My views are somewhere in between the two anyway.
You may see me doing a lot more bashing of the liberals though. That's because I personally do not regard their actions in the highest sense. And since the Black community as a whole votes Democrat by default, whether the candidate is worthy or not, I tend to gravitate toward their screwups more when they occur.
When I say, treat us as Americans.......let me explain. Over the years, there has been a lot of talk about us getting reparations. I don't know if we'll ever get them. To be honest, it's not something I'm sitting around waiting on. If it happens, fine. If it doesn't, fine. Because you see, the government turning its back on our community will just be old news. The primary idea behind reparations is to make up for the 40 acres and a mule that was promised but never delivered. The US government should be breaking its neck to catch up to the guilty parties of the terrorist organization Ku Klux Klan to bring them to justice for their crimes. While some of them have passed on, they all haven't. Instead you have the government refusing to press charges in the Emmett Till case. This is the only thing that really still aches me. Not reparations. But this country's abhorrent history of turning it's back on the murder and all around destruction of it's minority communities. It took the Emmett Till case before anyone who wasn't a brother or sister paid some true attention to what was going on down south. They swore up and down that they didn't know anything before then. Who do they think they're fooling. I'm reminded of how German's living around the Concentration Camps acted like they didn't know what was going on. Who do they think are fooling? Who?
You know, it looks like I have a truckload of hostility. But seriously, I'm calm as I type this. I've learned that it's really best not to expect the US Government to truly pull through when it comes to minorities. I mean, they'll pull through on some things. That's expected. At least kind of look like you're doing your job. But on major things like taking a serious look at the Emmett Till case, something that should have been taken care of decades ago, the US Government falls limp. I've trained myself to not get my hopes up.
I love the US with all my heart, but I'd love it a lot more if we, as African Americans were treated more as citizens and less as a problem. I know I'll lose a lot of you on this. You'll think I'm pulling the race card or something. I'm not calling anyone racist. I am however calling someone lazy and inconsiderate. :-) You see, a person isn't always a racist. Some people are just stone cold ignorant. You've got to look down upon and laugh at these sideshow freaks and move on with your life. You personally are the one with the knowledge, so why waste time on someone unworthy. But I'm digressing and beginning to rant a bit. I'll save that for another blog.

N*gga vs N*gger
There is no difference. Throw all that term of endearment nonsense out of the window. Placing an 'a' on the end simply gives the same word an ebonics edge.
I mean seriously. Is it really any different from 'stalka' coming from the word 'stalker'? If it isn't, well I guess I just made the word stalker a term of endearment. Go figure.

Race Card has gotten old.
Yep. Pulling the race card has gotten as old. Plain and simple.
If you haven't guessed already, this is indeed in response to the Cynthia McKinney incident. My my my. I've read the articles and I personally think it's just a situation that's been blown way the hell out of porportion. I think it's very likely that the guard didn't know who she was and simply wanted her to follow procedure.
And let's just assume I'm wrong as all hell. Is this really worth the media attention it's getting? Now, if you want to talk about some racism right under your nose, what about all the nonblacks shipping drugs and God knows what else from outside of this country into the ghettoes of our nation. That's something that needs some attention. Instead we're concerned about Cynthia McKinney not giving enough of a damn about following protocol. And why did she attack the guard? I hope she gets prosecuted for that. That's embarrassing as hell.
The media is simply unbelievable. Eating this nonsense up. Listen to me! This type of drivel is not important. What I mentioned above about drugs in the ghettoes. That's important. I guess noone wants to tackle that because that's where the majority of our gangsta rappers come from. And God knows they bring enough revenue into the nation. Black and white kids get a kick out of it. Why stop a good thing. If things actually got better for families in the projects, the gangsta rap game might dissapear altogether. If it doesn't appear to be broke, then don't fix it huh?
I'm having less and less faith in the Democrats everyday. They only support us if we whine and moan all day. The African race is not a race of Whiners and Moaners! Why did this become popular? All I'm saying is, we're better than this. But Democrats seem to not give a damn either way. Am I denying racism and prejudice? No. Do I think it should be overblown and made into a hindrance every time it rears its head? Hell no. Do I go looking for it everywhere I personally go? Hell no! Do you know why? Because I accept it. It comes with the package of living. It will always be here. If I encounter it, so what. The prejudice numbskull is as ignorant as a stack of bricks. Nothing to get all hampered up about. I love myself too much for that.

Exception to the Rule the best we can expect?
There has been a lot of discussion on how far race relations have come in this country. A lot of people seem to feel that while individuals of every race more than likely will admit to having at least one friend or acquantance of a different race, said friend is more than likely an 'exception' to stereotypes. In other words, a black male or female that has an interest in what this society deems as 'white music' or a white male or female who has an interest in rap and 'black culture' in general.
In some circles, this is viewed as a very pitiful step in improving race relations. To me, I think it's a lot bigger than that, and frankly I don't know why there should be surprise at the above trend. Human beings tend to associate with other human beings that hold their views or interests. It would be insanity to think that every person on this earth is compatible with the next. Much less when we're discussing something in the vein of black and white relations, especially considering this country's past.
Exception to the rule might not be an answer that pleases everyone, but I accept it. It's as good a stepping stone as any.

N*gger and the Confederate Flag
What do they have in common?
Both of them are racist as all hell and have racist ties and origins.
The respective races that support them generalize all day long about how they're not racist any more, but are either a term of endearment or a reflection of heritage.
They are kept alive in response to some nonexistant belief that the other race is 'taking everything away from them'.
Brothas and Sistas. Come on. Our ancestors were not calling each other that word when they were in Africa. It was introduced as a racist word to denounce us and then we picked it up(ie were forced to accept our lower status) and introduced into our everyday language.
I used to wonder why my parents never used it around the household. Boy, I was ignorant. My parents were educated. I don't mean institution of higher learing educated, even though they kicked ass in that department as well, but education of self.
I'm not telling anyone to do anything. If you want to call yourself that word and address others around you the same way, that's fine.
As far as the Confederate Flag is concerned, the only thing I think of when I see it is The South Will Rise Again. Anyone with common sense, regardless of color, should know that The South needs to stay under the ground. I know all about what The South was about by way of literature and testimony, so get that out of here. In other words, your defense is null and void. But as with the n word, I'm not here to tell you how to run your life, only to give........
